Abstract
The crystallization process of rapidly quenched Al6Mn, Al6Mn0·5Fe0·5 and Al6Fe alloys has been studied using a high-temperature X-ray diffractometer. The metastable-to-stable phase transitions occur in the temperature range between 360°C and 400°C, 410°C and 450°C, 420°C and 450°C for these three alloys, respectively, at a heating rate of 2°Cmin−1. None of these transitions are of the simple displacement type: they are reactions in which not only the metastable icosahedral phase but also crystalline aluminium participate.
