Topological disorder in icosahedral quasilattices

Pages 371-384 | Received 01 Dec 1986, Accepted 05 Mar 1987, Published online: 20 Aug 2006

Abstract

The occurrence of topological disorder in icosahedral quasilattices is demonstrated by using three-dimensional tiling models. It is an intrinsic disorder which results from different but equivalent ways of constructing the quasilattice. It leads either to local disorder or to the formation of non-coherent domains.
