HREM observation of domain boundaries in tetragonai zirconia

Abstract

The domain boundaries of tetragonai zirconia (t-ZrO2) were investigated by high-resolution electron microscopy observations. From the two-beam dark-field lattice images and the image simulation, the domain boundaries were confirmed to be an antiphase boundary of an array of oxygen ions that is caused by the displacement of oxygen ions along the c axis of the pseudofluorite unit cell.
