Metallic quantum dots

Abstract

This paper provides a review of the status of experimental and theoretical research on metallic auantum dots by tunnel spectroscopy. The level of the presentation is kept as simple as possible, to make the paper accessible to non-specialists. Topics covered include sample preparation, evaluation of parameters, discrete level spectra in both normal and superconducting grains, and effects of interelectronic and spin-orbit interactions.
