People with learning difficulties share views on their involvement in a performing arts group

Pages 329-334 | Published online: 07 Jan 2008

Abstract

DIY is a workshop and performance-based theatre company. All of the members are people with learning difficulties. Members of the group had a discussion about their work with researcher Danny Goodley as part of an on-going project exploring the benefits of participation in performing arts. The group's reflections surface many issues around work and the power of involvement for disabled people in high-profile community arts-based projects.
