1. The authors clarify that most of these professionals are from metropolitan France or the French Antilles and have very low linguistic competence, if any, in English-based Creoles.

2. The authors do not provide a specific definition for these practices. Based on the authors’ analysis of speech data in this chapter, I offer the following definition: speakers’ particular use of different languages or varieties in multilingual contexts where English-based Creoles usually predominate.
