Methods of Pre-Visualizing Temporal Parallax Suitable for Making Multiplex Holograms Part I: Utilizing the Pulfrich Effect

Pages 41-42 | Published online: 08 Jul 2016

Abstract

There is very little cinematic footage which does not display some form of temporal parallax, as actors gesture, a car drives by, or the camera pans across the scene. Temporal parallax is everywhere, but how can one distinguish in real-time which sequences contain orthoscope parallax useful for making holograms? This paper describes how the Pulfrich effect may be utilized by holographers to locate cinematic footage which is useful for holography.
