ABSTRACT

Image acquisition is through a single or a multi-sensor camera. A multi-sensor camera consists of three sensors, it captures the three colour intensity values in a pixel array. A single sensor camera acquires images using a Colour Filter Array to obtain only one intensity value in each pixel location and is reconstructed into a full-colour image by the process called demosaicking. This review paper describes the processing steps, datasets, problems and solutions in the conventional demosaicking algorithms, artefacts of demosaicking and the testing strategies used for analysis in the conventional algorithms in brief and their contribution to the field of imaging.
