A color image encryption scheme using customized map

ABSTRACT

The paper presents a new method for encrypting color images using a customized globally coupled lattice (CGCL) map. The process involves generating an initial parameter for the map using an SHA-128 hash function, which is then used to encrypt the image. Two different scrambling algorithms are used to improve the randomness of the encrypted image, and the DNA encoding procedure is used to further encrypt the permuted image components. The proposed scheme is shown to be robust against noise and crop attacks and effectively eliminates adjacent pixel correlation. The schemes information entropy, key space, NPCR, and UACI values are all close to ideal. The time complexity of the scheme is O(12×N×M), and it has a computation time of 2.97s, making it efficient. Overall, the simulation and performance analysis suggest that the proposed scheme is highly secure and resistant to foreign attacks, making it a promising method for color image encryption.

Dr. P. Mathivanan is an Assistant Professor (Sl.Gr) in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering - Cybersecurity at Amrita Vishwa Vidypeetham, Chennai campus, India. He has over 13 years of experience in teaching and research. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from St. Peter's Engineering College, affiliated with Anna University, Chennai, India in 2009. He received his Master's degree in Applied Electronics from Sri Ram Engineering College, also affiliated with Anna University, Chennai, India in 2012. In 2020, he completed his doctoral studies in the field of Bio-Signal Processing from Anna University, Chennai. Dr. Mathivanan's research interests include Bio-Signal Processing, Data Hiding, Deep Learning, and Image Processing. He has published eight articles in SCI journals, one in a Scopus indexed journal, and five conference publications. He is currently working on Tamil sign language translation for the deaf and mute and studying image encryption using chaotic systems.

Dr. P. Maran completed his BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from St. Peters Engineering College, Chennai, in 2011, and ME in VLSI Design from SSN College of Engineering, Anna University, Chennai, in 2013. He received his PhD from Anna University, Chennai, in 2018. He has 3 years research experience as Junior Research Fellow in SSN College of Engineering, as part of his full-time PhD and 6 months as Research Assistant in SSN College of Engineering. He worked as an Assistant Professor in RMK College of Engineering for 1 year from 2017 to 2018. Currently, He is an Assistant Professor (Sr. Gr.) in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Chennai campus. He has 5 international journal publications, 1 national and 6 international conference publications. His research interests include design and analysis of VCO, Harmonic rejection high linear CMOS Mixers, RF micro-strip filters, Design of low NF wideband LNA for 60 GHz applications and Signal Processing.
