ABSTRACT

This study corroborates the mediating role of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor while studying the role of good governance in fostering tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Burgeoning importance of good governance and easy access to tourist destination has escalated influence on tourist decision to choose a place to visit. Using Structure Equation modelling for data from 10 districts of Gilgit-Baltistan for mediation analysis, we found that governance has a strong and significant direct as well as indirect impact on the tourism industry. Results further suggest that CPEC significantly influences tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan.
