Research with social workers to improve their social interventions

Abstract

From the North to the South of Europe, embedded in local contexts, we can find interesting projects of cooperative knowledge production in social work settings. In this article we present case studies from research projects with social workers in Helsinki, Trento and Antwerp. We describe how the new paradigm of knowledge production (Mode 2) is implemented in this kind of social work research. We look for the specificity of the research process in these projects, the benefits for the researchers and the practitioners, and the necessary conditions to get satisfactory results.

Van het noorden tot het zuiden van Europa, kunnen we in het sociaal werk, ingebed in locale contexten interessante projecten van gezamenlijke kennisproductie vinden. In dit artikel beschrijven we onderzoeksprojecten uit Helsinki, Tronto en Antwerpen, die alle uitgevoerd werden in samenwerking met sociaal werkers. We gaan na hoe het nieuwe Modus 2-paradigma van kennisproductie toegepast wordt in dit type van sociaal werk onderzoek. We zoeken naar de specificitiet van het onderzoeksproces in deze projecten, de meerwaarde voor de onderzoekers en de sociaal werkers en de noodzakelijke voorwaarden om tot kwaliteitsvolle en bruikbare resultaten te komen.

Euroopan pohjoisosista aina etelään saakka voimme löytää paikalliseen ympäristöön asettuneena mielenkiintoisia yhteistoiminnallisen tiedontuotannon hankkeita. Tässä artikkelissa esittelemme sosiaalityöntekijöiden kanssa tehtyjä tutkimushankkeita Helsingissä, Trentossa ja Antwerpenissa. Kuvaamme kuinka uutta tiedontuotannon paradigmaa (Mode 2) on käytetty tällaisessa sosiaalityön tutkimuksessa. Etsimme näiden tutkimusprosessien erityisyyttä, tutkijoiden ja käytännön työntekijöiden saamia hyötyjä ja tyydyttävään tulokseen päätymisen välttämättömiä ehtoja.

In questo articolo presentiamo tre progetti di ricerca con assistenti sociali a Helsinki, Trento e Antwerp. Descriviamo come il nuovo paradigma di produzione della conoscenza (Mode 2) è messo in pratica in questo tipo di ricerca. Illustriamo la specificità del processo di ricerca, i benefici per i ricercatori e per gli operatori, e le condizioni necessarie per raggiungere dei buoni risultati.
