Host genetics affect susceptibility to invasive aspergillosis

Pages 55-60 | Published online: 09 Jul 2009

Abstract

Invasive aspergillosis is a common and life-threatening infection in immunocompromised individuals. Epidemiologic risk factors do not fully explain susceptibility to disease amongst at-risk persons. Recently, the contribution of host genetics and genetic polymorphisms to disease susceptibility has begun to be explored. This paper highlights methodologies for evaluating the role of host genetics in aspergillosis susceptibility.
