Modelling a flexible slider crank mechanism by a mixed system of DAEs and PDEs

Pages 1-18 | Published online: 29 Mar 2007

Abstract

This article provides a basic modelling study for a mechanical multibody system composed of rigid and flexible bodies. Using the example of a slider crank mechanism, a descriptor form approach is introduced which consists essentially of a mixed system of Differential-Algebraic Equations (DAEs) and Partial-Differential Equations (PDEs). Numerical results illustrate the complex relation of modelling and simulation.
