Interactive modelling of multibody systems with an obiject oriented data model

Pages 55-68 | Published online: 29 Mar 2007

Abstract

In this paper the concept and one possible implementation of a program package for the interactive modelling of multibody systems is presented. An object oriented data model is used to store the model data in a redundancy free way, completely independent of specific multibody formalisms or simulation programs. This data model is implemented as a data kernel with methods that guarantee the encapsulation of the data representation. For the comfortable interaction with this data kernel an interactive, graphical user interface has been developed. This user interface supports the user in creating, modifying and deleting model elements as well as in administrating libraries of models. Data converters translate the model description into the input format of several multibody system formalisms.
