ABSTRACT

This paper introduces a special issue of Housing, Theory and Society entitled “Behavioural biases in the housing market”. First, we provide a brief overview of theoretical considerations and empirical research applying the behavioural economics approach to housing market studies. Second, we summarize the topics of the papers included in the special issue and, finally, point out directions for future analyses involving behavioural economics and the housing market.

Acknowledgments

We would like to thank all contributors to this special issue as well as for the support from members of the editorial board of Housing, Theory, and Society, in particular Professors Kenneth Gibb and Hannu Ruonavaara.
