Abstract
What is the possibility that the government of South Africa will use exports of strategic minerals as a source of leverage in the face of growing pressure from the international community?
In this paper the role of South Africa as a supplier of strategic minerals is assessed in the context of demand, supply and world trade, and the attendant risks for consumer nations of relying on a single major source for their essential raw materials.
