Third world mining: No limits on pollution?

Abstract

A recent international conference in Berlin brought together international mining companies, aid agencies, developing countries and a forlorn environmentalist to discuss what environmental policies are, and should be pursued towards the mining industry in the Third World. In the first of two articles ThomasWälde summarizes the discussions. The second is a document adopted by the conference.
