Energy use in US minerals and primary metals industry

Abstract

In the 1970s the energy costs increased fast and many steps were taken to reduce energy consumption in the mineral industry. This article describes the trend in energy consumption in the mineral industry and the primary metals industry for production of selected mineral commodities during the last decades.
