Structural reform and privatization in Peru

Abstract

In 1969 the decision was taken that the Peruvian state should participate actively in production. Until 1968 there were 28 state companies - none in the mining sector. By 1991 there were 181 state companies, 18 of them in mining.

In 1992 a process of privatization was initiated. In this paper the author describes and explains the sturcutural reform och privatization that has been taking place in Peru during the 1990s.
