Abstract
Hydroxyapatite can be obtained, selectively, from eggshells using different thermal treatments. The thermal treatment controls, to a large extent, the efficiency of the chemical reaction to produce this particular inorganic phase. Different calcium phosphate phases can be obtained just by changing the thermal treatment. Particularly, it is possible to synthesize Hidroxyapatite and Whitlockita in different proportions by adjusting the heating rate of the reacting compounds.
