5 BRT stands for Bus Rapid Transit. It is a system of municipal buses that circulate in specific corridors around the city of Rio de Janeiro, allowing a faster flow of people and including many boarding stations, each with the name of a neighborhood or a nearby reference point, such as the one referred by Luiz (Cardoso de Moraes).

6 The university extension project (in partnership with the community) linked to the study has produced videos with youth living in the Alemão Favela Complex, professionals working in the region, and undergraduate students of the project with the theme ‘My life in the pandemic’. 7 A financial assistance program of the Federal Government for low-income families during the pandemic.

8 In Brazil, young men are required to join the armed forces at the age of 18. If they are discharged from military service, they receive a Certificate of Service (reservist), a document that proves that they have fulfilled their obligation with the armed forces. This document is mandatory in several situations, such as acquiring a passport, signing up for a public tender, requesting a social security card, and being hired in formal employment.

2 O Painel Unificador da COVID-19 nas favelas é uma iniciativa coletiva de diferentes movimentos sociais de favelas do Rio de Janeiro, apoiado pelo Instituto de Comunicação e Informação em Saúde (Icict), do Laboratório de Informação em Saúde (LIS) da Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz). 5 BRT significa Bus Rapid Transit. São ônibus municipais que circulam em corredores específicos pela cidade do Rio de Janeiro, permitindo um fluxo mais rápido de pessoas. São diversas estações de embarque e desembarque, cada uma com nome de algum bairro ou ponto de referência próximo, como Luiz se referiu (Cardoso de Moraes).

6 O projeto de extensão com o qual se relaciona a pesquisa tem produzido vídeos com jovens moradores do Complexo do Alemão, profissionais que atuam na região e estudantes extensionista do projeto, com a temática “Minha vida na pandemia”. 7 Programa do Governos Federal de auxílio financeiro a famílias de baixa renda em função da pandemia.

8 No Brasil, é obrigatório que aos 18 anos os jovens do sexo masculino se alistem em alguma força armada. Caso eles sejam dispensados do serviço militar, recebem o certificado de reservista, documento que comprova que cumpriram com sua obrigação. Tal documento é obrigatório para diversas situações, como emissão de passaporte, inscrição em concurso público, emissão de carteira de trabalho e contratação para trabalho formal.
