&
Pages 12-17 | Published online: 06 Oct 2016

Abstract

Amongst the developing countries on the African continent, South Africa has arguably the best developed occupational therapy services and is frequently looked to as a role model. It also manages to have a presence within the developed world, with frequent visits back and forth by both academics and practitioners. International student exchange is gradually increasing, as a logical extension of these factors. This includes both South African OT students visiting other countries during their training, and foreign students visiting South Africa. This article details the formal and informal opportunities which exist for student exchange at the various South African OT training centers. It also provides advice and recommendations for students considering such an exchange.
