Abstract

Surface on the body and the welding quality are influenced by the spatter. Research to reduce the spatter was performed for spot welding in automotive companies. Spatter is produced when the liquid metal is splashed from the melting zone. Therefore, using hollow electrode tips is proposed to prevent spatter from splash. The hollow region keeps the little liquid metal and prevents spatter. A better spot welding process is obtained using this hollow electrode tip.
