ABSTRACT

In order to solve the problems of complex processes, long cycle, high cost and high risk in traditional installation methods of large floating crane jibs, a novel prevent failure method using a gantry crane to install the floating crane jib is proposed and key technologies, such as reasonable solution for distributing force on the lifting point in the jib lifting through adopting balanced suspensory rigging, efficient shaft threading technology with guide and traction device and newly developed compliant support structure against ship rolling. In this article, we present the application cases of systematic installation method of the large floating crane jib to real production process. The engineering practice proves that the novel installation method proposed is simple in operation and low in cost and provides a new and reliable choice for the installation and maintenance of large floating crane.
