Abstract

Building on the notion of reflective practice, this grounded theory study defines and explores the concept of regenerative practice for those working in caring professions. Data were gathered using a ‘Regenerative Practice Log’ derived from a spiritual practice known as the examen. A definition of regenerative practice developed out of a conversation with the data, a literature review focusing on reflective practice, the concept of regenerative and the examen and my experience. Regenerative practice was defined and explained using 12 points grouped under three domains: personal, vocational/professional and structural.
