Over the past five years since I took over as Editor in Chief of Human Fertility in 2015, it is in the Editorial for issue 3 of each volume that I have the pleasure of announcing each year’s new impact factor. This year is no exception and I am delighted to let the readers of Human Fertility know that the Impact Factor has risen again from 1.803 in 2018 (Pacey, Citation2019) to 2.161 in 2019. This represents the sixth successive annual increase in the Impact Factor! Once again, this is in no small part due to the many articles submitted by authors, the hard work of the Editorial Board and our amazing Editorial Assistant Sandra Downing. The many articles submitted by authors. But also, in this issue, we acknowledge the assistance of 245 reviewers who have undertaken a review for Human Fertility during the period 1 June 2019 to 31 May 2020 and who have agreed for their name to be printed. Thank you.
Also, in this issue, we publish an update to the British Fertility Society ‘Recommendations for Good Practice for sedation in Assisted Conception’ (Acharya, Citation2020). This replaces the previous version of the guidelines published by Elkington et al. (Citation2003) and is a welcome update. We also publish a meta-analysis by Kim et al. (Citation2020) on the relationship between the Tumour necrosis factor-alpha gene polymorphism in women with recurrent pregnancy loss.
As the summer of 2020 finally begins to fade in the northern hemisphere, and we reflect on what a completely unusual year this has been so far, I hope you enjoy the other seven original articles in this issue.
