Easton Cowboys and Cowgirls: anatomy of an alternative sports club

Abstract

This is a personal narrative account of the history and ideas of Easton Cowboys and Cowgirls. I’ll firstly describe the achievements and history of the club. I’ll look at what makes it different, even within the anarchist or activist ‘scene’, what its values are (and how these manifest themselves) and the way that the club organizes itself. I’ll also discuss the club’s future and whether its unique approach to sport and community organization can be sustained over a number of generations.
