Abstract

In attention of the advantages of Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC), this concrete has been widely used in concrete pavements construction. Among the most important characteristics of this concrete, its strength at early ages, its high speed, and its economic performance can be mentioned. The present paper reviews the literature related to the properties of RCCP. Firstly, general information about RCC definition, history, advantages and disadvantages, and materials which are used to production of RCCP include cementitious materials, aggregates and water are presented. Then, mechanical properties (compressive, flexural and tensile strength), modulus of elasticity, fatigue behaviour, creep, volume change, bond strength, thermal properties, Permeability, durability (abrasion/erosion, freezing and thawing and water absorption), density, and surface properties are among reviewed RCC properties.
