3. The concept of a communicative network stresses the communication processes within networks (Hepp Citation2011, pp. 229ff.).

4. Meta-processes mean long-term, cross-regional and cross-cultural processes; using this expression helps summarize multifaceted and interrelated developments as well as their impacts (Krotz Citation2008, p. 153).
