Introduction

This, our second issue of our 37th volume is a standard issue. In this issue, we have several articles, which focus on a variety of topics like sexual fantasy across gender identities, the role of imagination and curiosity in levels of sexual satisfaction, exploration of women’s sexual mindfulness and self-love, men and masturbation, exploring sexual orientation in the context of prostate cancer, sexual functioning and experiencing in the context of menstrual cycle phases and pelvic organ prolapse, and the testing of a questionnaire focused on sexual experience and partnership quality. There are also a few more articles in the issue that have already garnered quite a bit of attention in the early view online hosting of the journal’s website. The first of these articles is focused on a qualitative study that is centered on the sexual fantasies of people across diverse gender identities (Lindley et al., Citation2020). The second of the articles attends to the role that sensuality, imagination, and curiosity play in couple relationships with high or optimal levels of sexual satisfaction (Jamea, Citation2020). We hope you find each of the scholarly works in this issue helpful in your practice and to better assist you in tying the research presented directly to your practice we invite you to read the ongoing Clinical Review Editorial by Dr. Christopher K. Belous, which immediately follows this Editorial Introduction.

While our first and second issues of the year have been standard issues, the remaining issue/s will include our special issue focused on sexuality, religion, and spirituality, which is being guest edited by Dr. Mark Levand. To accompany this upcoming special issue, the organization that houses the journal—the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT)—will host Dr. Levand for an online seminar titled, “Religious Belief and Psychosexual Therapy” in June of 2022. In addition, I want to draw your attention to the upcoming annual spring COSRT conference also taking place in June of 2022. Typically, the theme of our special issue aligns with our annual spring conference, but that is not the case this year. This year the conference is focused on gender, sexual, and relationship diversity (GSRD; Davies & Barker, Citation2015) in modern therapy, which was actually the theme of one of our special issues not long ago—namely, volume 33, issue 4 from 2018 (Twist, Citation2018). Thus, we encourage you to revisit this prior special issue ahead of the annual spring conference.
