Kürşat Çınar earned his PhD in Political Science from the Ohio State University. His research interests center on party politics, democratization, patron-client relationships, development, and gender politics. He has published in Politics & Gender, Democratization, Political Studies, South European Society and Politics, Contemporary Politics, Mediterranean Politics, Journal of Balkan and Near Eastern Studies, and Turkish Studies. Kursat Cinar’s book, titled The Decline of Democracy in Turkey: A Comparative Study of Hegemonic Party Rule will be published by Routledge. A chapter written by Cinar on clientelism has appeared in the Sage Encyclopedia of Political Behavior. Cinar is a Fulbright and EU Marie Curie Alumnus and the recipient of the 2013 Sakıp Sabancı International Research Award. He is also one of the Associate Editors of Politics & Gender. Dr. Çınar is an Assistant Professor at Middle East Technical University, Department of Political Science and Public Administration.
