1. Pejanović describes the negotiations within the League of Communists and with the newly established ethnonationalist parties over the composition of the presidency. Originally, the presidency was intended to hold three Muslim, two Serb and one Croat member (Pejanović Citation2004, 19–20).

2. The SDS had organized a seperate plebescite in November 1991 over whether Bosnia and Herzegovina should remain in Yugoslavia with a strong support among those supporting in favour of Yugoslavia.
