ABSTRACT

This paper is a book review of the André Liebich’s book on East-Central Europe countries, socialist before 1989 and members of the European Union today. In this book, the author describes the evolution of these countries after the fall of communism and the accession to the European Union. The purpose of this book is to offer an overview of the countries of East-Central Europe some thirty years of transition.

Gabriel Camară is a lecturer in the Department of Geography at the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași, Romania. His research interests are in human geography with a focus on urban geography and tourism geography and specific topics such as green cities, urban health, and sustainable tourism. Occasionally he is also interested in demography and the place of Romania in the European Union.
