Case study research methodology for publishing developments in ICT‐facilitated learning in higher education – a prescriptive approach

Pages 27-39 | Published online: 17 Feb 2009

Abstract

The major purpose of this case article is to propose a methodology for reporting the work of teachers who develop ICT‐facilitated learning, so that it is publishable in refereed journals. This experience of professional practice typically fails to meet the criteria of academic research, yet academics are experienced investigators and are skilled at evaluation. Hence the precedent of medical research where experience can be reported is seen to provide a model. As long as the method of reporting practice is appropriate, in due course others can analyse collections of case studies (cases study research), and in the longer term we can look forward to meta‐studies where collections of case studies are analysed.
