Develop a framework of creative thinking teaching mode for RN-BSN students on the basis of the creative process of clinical nurses in Taiwan

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop a framework of creative thinking teaching mode for RN-BSN students on the basis of the creative process of clinical nurses in Taiwan. Purposive samples have earned creativity awards recruited from the medical, surgical, maternity, paediatric, community and psychiatric departments in Taiwan. Semi-structured interview was focused on creative process of clinical nurses along with the content analysis from the first interview, and closed until data analysis approached at saturation on the 18th nurse’s information. This study was conducted from August 2009 to July 2010 across Taiwan. A teaching framework of creative thinking on the basis of the creative process of nurses was generated according to the factors of creative thinking, the process of creative thinking, attributes of teaching for creative thinking and evaluating indicators of creative thinking. Empirical testing of this teaching framework was recommended as the future study for nursing education.
