This edition of the Journal presents another exciting panorama of articles that expand the broad field of cosmetic and laser therapy. The first two studies look at new devices that are being used as adjuncts with the potential of making laser and light source treatments easier, less painful and possibly safer. Kono's study looks at the use of compression during Q‐switched alexandrite laser treatment of dermal pigmented lesions while Ke's study evaluates pain inhibition with pneumatic skin flattening (PSF) in permanent diode laser hair removal.

The treatment of photaging is also well represented. Berlin's study evaluated cutaneous photoaging treated with a combined 595/1064 nm laser. In another study a fractional, non‐sequential pulsed, carbon dioxide laser is evaluated. Finally, in Haslam's study a 1072nm light is studied for its effect on anti‐aging. Of course photoaging can be treated with topical agents as well. My associate Mussarrat Hussain and I present a study where a new novel manganese peptide is evaluated for its effect on sun damaged skin.

Needless to say the documentation of clinical improvement is mandatory in any study. Lowe presents a new way of evaluating clinical results from lip fillers – the use of 3D photography.

Finally 4 case reports expand our horizons in the cosmetic arena. Cohen looks at CO2 laser desiccation of urethral hair post‐peno‐scrotal hypospadia repair. Mulekar performed a pilot study looking at the effect of a 308nm excimer laser in the treatment of halo nevus. Levy describes the ‘Nefertiti Lift’ – a new technique for specific re‐contouring of the jawline. Finally, Gorouhi describes treatment of a traumatic tattoo with the Q‐switched Nd:YAG laser.

The full world of cosmetic and laser therapy is represented in this edition of the Journal. Happy reading!
