Alistair Rolls is associate professor of French studies. His current research focuses on crime fiction; his recent works include Paris and the Fetish: Primal Crime Scenes (Rodopi, 2014) and Private Investigator (Intellect, 2016), the latter co-edited with Rachel Franks. He has published a number of articles on translation, especially focusing on the French translations of the Série Noire in the years following the Second World War. In 2016 he guest-edited (with John West-Sooby and Marie-Laure Vuaille-Barcan) a special issue of The Translator on the translation of national allegory in the case of crime fiction.
