Abstract

By singular asymptotic series expansion of the integrals giving the radiated field from a dislocation loop, the logarithmic singularity of the near-field expansion is obtained for a straight edge dislocation. The coefficient of the singularity depends linearly on the instantaneous value of the acceleration and constitutes the leading term of the energy-release rate for a moving dislocation in a general motion.
