Abstract

We consider the effects of an external magnetic field on a non-conducting ferroelectric. It is shown that the frequencies of optical dipole oscillations are split by a magnetic field, and that the gas of excitations is paramagnetic. They contribute a term to the specific heat, which increases with magnetic field.
