ABSTRACT

Traditionally, for hard materials, two types of straight disclinations are identified although some Somigliana disclinations with different aspects have been treated theoretically. Here, we consider four physically distinct types of curved generalised disclinations, one of which reduces to two straight types, giving a total of five. We indicate typical applications for the different types.
