Abstract
In a recent paper “Implications of Some Data on Relaxation Creep in Nimonic 80A”, Gittus attempts to deduce a creep law for the material from observations on the variations in load exerted by a spring compressed to a fixed length as creep proceeds. This note points out the difficulties of determining the stresses in the spring in terms of the load when the stress exponent differs from unity and suggests an alternative method of interpreting the results.
