Thermoelectric powers and electrical resistivities of liquid mercury containing halide ions

Abstract

The absolute thermoelectric powers and resistivities of liquid mercury containing halide ions have been measured within the temperature range 250–400°c. Both thermopower and resistivity of this solution increase with the addition of the halide ions. These results are in fair agreement with those predicted by the Faber-Ziman theory, in which the partial structure factors and the energy-dependent pseudopotential are taken into account.
