Pseudopotentials and residual resistivities in silver and gold

Abstract

The observed residual resistance per atomic per cent of polyvalent impurity is greater in Ag than in Au, the only known exceptions to this statement being the divalents Mg, Zn and Cd. This suggests that the pseudopotential form factor for Ag is (algebraically) higher than for Au for smaller momentum transfers. From the evidence of the band gaps, the curves cross later and this takes place probably below 2k F.
