Abstract
The influence of impurities and clusters, coherent with the matrix, on unfaulting dislocation loops in quenched aluminium alloys is studied theoretically on the basis of the model proposed by Saada (1962). Taking into account the local stresses, it is found that only those clusters with large misfit favour the development of a Shockley loop inside Frank loops.
The formulation applied to the cases of some aluminium alloys containing G.P. zones is found to be consistent with experimental observations
