Width of charged Néel walls in thin ferromagnetic crystals

Pages 1111-1116 | Received 25 Jul 1974, Published online: 20 Aug 2006

Abstract

Charged Néel walls may occur in thin crystals with surfaces normal to a single hard axis of magnetization. An expression for the energy of such walls is derived. Minimizing the energy enables the equilibrium wall width to be calculated. The results show that the wall width increases as the magnetostatic charge density of the wall increases.
