Abstract

The self-diffusion coefficient of Li+ in lithium fluoride has been determined over the temperature range 650–800°C using the ion-microprobe analyser. The evaluation of the tracer diffusion coefficients for 6Li and 7Li from the intrinsic diffusion coefficient obtained under the non-tracer conditions of the ion-probe measurement is also discussed. The D0 values in the Arrhenius equation are found to be 90·9 ± 0·6 and 85·7 ± 0·6 cm 2see-1 for 8Li and 7Li respectively, and the activation energy, 2·13 ± 0·02 eV.
