The role of joint control in selection responses

Pages 41-48 | Received 31 Jan 2015, Accepted 06 Dec 2015, Published online: 06 Feb 2016

ABSTRACT

The term “manded selection responses” was used to describe a type of speaker–listener relation and a type of listener responding. The origin of manded selection response is the target of current investigation. Several behavioral models such as conditional discrimination, bi-directional relation, or naming had been used to explain the origin of this listener response. However, joint control studies demonstrated that tact, echoic, and selection responses are functionally independent. In addition, training tact and self-echoic jointly evokes manded selection responses.
