Pages 127-139 | Published online: 10 Jan 2009

Abstract

This paper includes a review of (1) the existing need for high precision positioning at sea, (2) the main limitations of operational high‐precision positioning systems, and (3) experimental systems and improvements that may give satisfactory solutions. This contribution focuses in particular on problems related to the Norwegian continental shelf, which is considered an average problem area.
