Embedded librarians in academic libraries: impact, assessment, and sustainability

 

Abstract

Academic librarians are continually looking for ways to impact student learning. Embedded librarianship can be a method to connect with students in ways that cannot be accomplished with one-shot instruction sessions. The following eight articles were selected for their excellence in researching and sharing embedded librarian experiences in a variety of academic library settings.

Mimmo Bonanni

Mimmo Bonanni is an Associate Liaison Librarian in the Social Sciences Division of Arizona State University Library in Tempe, AZ. He is the liaison librarian for the School of Social Transformation, the School of Human Evolution and Social Change, and the School of International Letters and Cultures (Italian Literature). He earned a Master of Library and Information Studies from Dalhousie University, a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Alberta, and a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Italian Literature from Arizona State University.

Brad Vogus

Brad Vogus is an Associate Liaison Librarian (Social Science Division) in the Engagement & Learning Directorate at Arizona State University Library in Tempe, AZ. He is the coordinator of the Federal Depository Library located on the ASU West campus. He earned a Master of Information and Library Studies from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature (psychology minor) from Indiana University.
