Abstract

In order to obtain a high degree of rigidity within the sugar moiety of nucleosides, some bicyclic pyrimidine nucleoside analogues where synthesized starting from cyclopentanone. The C-4′-substituent is fused to the C-3′-position via a propylene to give a [3.3.0]-bicyclic ring system.
